Get clicks on an RSS feed using traffic exchange
An RSS feed is a standardised document that contains links to the most recent news, articles or blog posts. It is very convenient for your website users, who can add the feed to a news aggregator and be notified when you publish new content. In this article we show how to use our traffic exchange to send traffic to any RSS feed and have a link clicked from it.
Add your RSS feed as a website
As an example we will use the RSS feed from the official WordPress website: https://wordpress.com/blog/feed/. Opening this link in your browser shows an XML document — the feed.
Add this link as a website on your FeelingSurf account: go to your websites list, click Add websites, and enter the URL of your RSS feed as the website link. Do not click Save changes yet.
Your RSS feed is now ready to receive traffic. However, we also want a link referenced in the feed to be clicked — for that we use the Actions provided by the Premium membership.
Use the RSS Action to automatically click a link from the feed
Open the Actions tab, click Add an Action, and select RSS from the list. This action loads your RSS feed and clicks any random link referenced in it.
Selecting a specific link to be clicked
Instead of a random link, you can choose the first or last link, and you can add a filter on the link URL. For example, you can set it so that the first link in the feed whose URL contains /article-about-such-subject is the one clicked.
Final note
We have shown how to send traffic to an RSS feed and have one of its links clicked. This technique works with any RSS feed, and we look forward to your feedback on this feature.
